A 26-year-old woman from Goulais River, Ontario, has been formally charged in connection with a late March collision that resulted in severe injuries to two young pedestrians in Sault Ste. Marie. Shelby Storozuk is facing two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm following an investigation into the incident.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call on March 27 at approximately 8:10 a. m. in the area of Second Line West and Whitney Avenue. Two brothers, 14-year-old Ben Shubrook-Hill and 16-year-old Nathan Shubrook-Hill, were walking along Second Line en route to Korah Collegiate when they were struck by a vehicle. Both teenagers sustained serious injuries and were transported to a London, Ontario hospital for treatment.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the accused crossed the centre line, overcorrected, and crossed onto the shoulder, striking the two pedestrians. Storozuk is scheduled to appear in court on July 27. The allegations against her have not been tested in court.
