The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially signed forward Landon Sim to a two-year, entry-level contract. The deal, which begins in the 2026-27 season, signifies the organization's confidence in the 21-year-old's potential after a year of development within the system.
Sim, a native of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round (184th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft but did not sign with the team. He instead returned to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the London Knights, where he significantly improved his game. His decision to stay in the OHL proved fruitful, culminating in a Memorial Cup victory with the Knights last spring.
This season, Sim has been honing his skills with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL. While his offensive numbers may not immediately stand out, his physical presence and tenacious play have impressed the Leafs' management. In 13 games with the Marlies, Sim has three goals and 31 penalty minutes. He also has six points (two goals, four assists) and 44 penalty minutes in 18 games with the Cyclones.
Sim's journey through the OHL saw him play 213 regular-season games with the London Knights, amassing 124 points (66 goals, 58 assists). He added 23 points (16 goals, seven assists) in 30 playoff games, helping the Knights secure OHL championships in both 2024 and 2025. Leafs fans can anticipate Sim bringing a blend of skill and grit to the organization as he aims to make his mark at the NHL level.
