A plane making an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia, on Thursday afternoon resulted in a fatal collision with two vehicles. Prince George RCMP confirmed that one occupant of a vehicle involved in the incident has died. The extent of injuries sustained by occupants of the second vehicle and those aboard the aircraft remains unknown.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 2:20 p. m. PT on August 20, 2026. The aircraft, identified as a Beech King Air 200, landed on the busy road approximately 1.5 kilometres north of North Nechako Road. Social media images showed wreckage, including a propeller, speared through a pickup truck's windshield, and another vehicle in a ditch.
BC Emergency Health Services assessed a total of 10 patients at the scene, transporting two to hospital in stable condition. Foothills Boulevard was closed to traffic in both directions overnight and into Friday, with drivers advised to seek alternative routes. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has taken over the investigation into the cause of the emergency landing. RCMP Corporal Jennifer Cooper urged the public to stay away from the scene to allow first responders to work safely and to avoid diverting police resources from the investigation and other calls for service.
