Additionally, \$2.67 billion will be invested in establishing four new remote operating hubs across the North to facilitate rapid deployment. These hubs, located in Whitehorse, Resolute, Cambridge Bay and Rankin Inlet, will serve as crucial logistics and supply centers.
Beyond military enhancements, the investment includes significant funding for crucial infrastructure projects. This encompasses support for road and port development, including the Mackenzie Valley Highway, which will connect Yellowknife and Inuvik. These infrastructure improvements are vital for connecting communities, fostering economic growth, and enabling greater access to resources in the North. Carney stated that these projects are of national interest and will receive accelerated approval.
