The celebrations continue for Team USA's men's hockey team after their thrilling 2-1 overtime victory against Canada in the Winter Olympics Milano Cortina 2026. This marked their first Olympic gold medal in men's hockey since the "Miracle on Ice" team's triumph at the 1980 Lake Placid Games. The team's victory has sparked excitement and national pride, with many hoping it will boost hockey's popularity in the United States.

Following their arrival from Milan, the team made several high-profile appearances. Jack Hughes and his brother Quinn kicked off the celebrations with a segment on NBC's "Today" show. Subsequently, most of the team traveled to Washington, D. C., to meet with U. S. President Donald Trump. The players met with President Trump in the Oval Office and posed for photos. Some players also attended the President's State of the Union address.

Not all players participated in the White House visit. Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger was among those who skipped the event, choosing to return to Dallas ahead of his team's game against the Seattle Kraken. The U. S. women's hockey team, who also won gold against Canada, declined an invitation to the State of the Union due to scheduling conflicts.

The victory parade continues as players return to their respective NHL teams. Many are eager to see the Olympic heroes back in action. Several players were back on the ice Wednesday, including Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who was the hero in the Olympic final. The NHL had taken a two-week break for the Winter Olympics.
