Nylander, Tavares Lead Leafs to Victory Over Flames

The Toronto Maple Leafs extended their dominance over the Calgary Flames with a 4-2 win at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday night. The Leafs have now won eight straight against the Flames and are 15-3-1 in their last 19 meetings since the 2020-21 season.

The Maple Leafs started strong, with William Nylander scoring just 35 seconds into the game after John Tavares intercepted a pass. Nylander, who was born in Calgary, continued his impressive scoring record against the Flames, bringing his career total to 36 points in 26 games against them. Matias Maccelli and Troy Stecher also scored for Toronto, with Bobby McMann adding an empty-netter to seal the win.

Calgary mounted a comeback in the second period with goals from Nazem Kadri and Joel Farabee, cutting the lead to 3-2. However, Joseph Woll stood tall in net for the Leafs, making 28 saves and shutting down the Flames' attempts to tie the game. Kadri's goal was only his second in the last 20 games, a significant drop from his team-leading 35 goals last season.

The Leafs are now within seven points of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. They continue their road trip through Western Canada, looking to build on this momentum. For the Flames, the loss adds to their inconsistent season as they struggle to find a winning formula.
