A devastating two-vehicle collision in rural Ontario has claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. The incident occurred Friday evening around 7:30 p. m. in Mapleton Township, located northwest of Guelph.
The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that a van and a sports utility vehicle collided at the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12. Emergency services responded swiftly, with multiple occupants from both vehicles sustaining serious, life-threatening injuries. Several fatalities were confirmed at the scene.
At least three individuals were airlifted to various trauma centres, while others were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The OPP's Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team has been called in to lead the investigation. As a result, traffic in the surrounding area has been rerouted to allow investigators to conduct their work. No further details regarding the identities of the victims or the exact cause of the crash have been released at this time.
