Team Canada's quest for Olympic gold in men's hockey has begun with the first practice held earlier today. The session featured a notable trio: Connor McDavid, the Edmonton Oilers superstar; Macklin Celebrini, the highly touted young talent; and Tom Wilson, known for his physical presence. The team is gearing up for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, where expectations are high for a dominant performance.

The practice lines offered a glimpse into potential combinations, with Celebrini and McDavid possibly joining Mitch Marner on the top line. Sidney Crosby, recently named team captain, is expected to play alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Sam Reinhart. McDavid has expressed his excitement about representing Canada at the Olympics, a sentiment echoed by Crosby, who will be making his return as captain. Cale Makar will serve as alternate captain alongside McDavid.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, and it is an honour to be named captain of Canada's men's hockey team," Crosby said in a statement released by Hockey Canada. "Connor and Cale, along with our entire group, provide incredible leadership, and I am happy to represent Canada together on the same team."

Team Canada will begin their Olympic campaign on February 12 against Switzerland. With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging stars, the team is aiming for nothing less than a gold medal victory.
