Matt Fitzpatrick overcame a disappointing finish at The Players Championship to win the 2026 Valspar Championship. The Englishman birdied the final hole to secure a one-shot victory over David Lipsky, claiming the $1.638 million prize from the $9.1 million purse. Fitzpatrick's stellar play and consistency throughout the tournament earned him his first PGA Tour win in nearly three years.
The Valspar Championship, held at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, marked the end of the PGA Tour's Florida swing. This year's event saw seven Canadian golfers in the field, led by Corey Conners. Conners, along with Nick Taylor and Mike Weir, have already qualified for the Masters Tournament, set to take place in April. Adam Hadwin, a past Valspar champion (2017), participated via a sponsor's exemption.
The Copperhead Course proved to be a challenging test for the golfers, with Fitzpatrick being one of the few to maintain consistency throughout the four rounds. Sungjae Im, who held the lead going into the final round, struggled on Sunday, opening the door for Fitzpatrick's victory. Ultimately, Fitzpatrick's steady play and clutch performance on the final hole secured him the win and a significant boost in the FedEx Cup standings.
