Fatal Shooting at Lambton College Bar Leaves One Dead

A shooting at Lambton College’s campus bar in Sarnia, Ontario, has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man and injuries to two others. Sarnia police were called to the scene at approximately 12:52 a. m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, after reports of gunfire at the college bar. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals with injuries.

A 20-year-old Sarnia man, identified as Dane Nisbet, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead. Nisbet was known in the local hockey community. The two other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Sarnia police are treating the case as a homicide. As of Friday morning, no arrests had been made, and the investigation is ongoing. The college is not believed to be the intended target.

Lambton College has closed its Sarnia campus for the day, cancelling all classes and on-campus activities. In a statement released on social media, the college expressed deep sadness and extended condolences to the victim's family and friends. "This loss is a profound tragedy," the college stated, emphasizing the safety of students, employees, and guests as their highest priority. Support is being offered to the college community through Counselling and Wellness services.
