A fatal head-on collision occurred on Highway 8 near Hamilton early this morning, resulting in one death and injuries to six others. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the two-vehicle crash took place around 6:45 a. m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, between Safari Road and Studiman Road.
According to police reports, one of the vehicles had two occupants, while the other carried five. A passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. One person was airlifted to a local hospital by Ornge air ambulance, and five others were transported to hospitals with injuries of varying severity.
Highway 8 was closed in both directions between Studiman Road and Sheffield Road for several hours as OPP investigated the collision. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
