Fatal Collision Near Guelph Claims Several Lives

A severe two-vehicle collision in Mapleton Township, northwest of Guelph, has resulted in multiple fatalities and serious injuries. The crash occurred on Friday evening, June 12, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p. m., at the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a van and a sports utility vehicle collided at the intersection. Emergency services, including local fire and EMS, responded to the scene. Multiple occupants from both vehicles sustained life-threatening injuries, with several fatalities confirmed.

At least three individuals were airlifted to various trauma centres, while others were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team has been deployed to the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result of the collision, the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12 has been closed in all directions and is expected to remain so for several hours. Police are asking the public to use alternate routes and to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 if they witnessed the collision or have any information, including dashcam footage.

The OPP stated that the investigation is in its early stages, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
