The Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday that the team has signed forwards Akil Thomas and Trey Fix-Wolansky to one-year, two-way contracts. This move adds depth to the organization as the NHL offseason continues.

Thomas, 25, spent last season with the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, where he recorded 44 points in 63 games. He also made his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings, appearing in three games. The Toronto native brings speed and offensive upside to the Canucks' system.

Fix-Wolansky, 25, comes to Vancouver after spending the past two seasons with the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL. He was a consistent offensive threat, tallying 65 points in 75 games during the 2023-24 season. The Edmonton product is known for his strong skating and playmaking abilities, which could translate to an NHL role.

Both players will likely begin the season with the Abbotsford Canucks, the Canucks' AHL affiliate, where they will aim to impress the coaching staff and work towards earning an opportunity at the NHL level. These signings reflect the Canucks' strategy of acquiring developing talent to compete for roster spots.
