Canadians are being urgently advised by Health Canada to immediately stop using the Ultra Big Blue Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner. The product is being pulled from shelves nationwide due to significant safety issues, specifically its failure to meet mandatory labelling and child-resistant packaging standards.
Health Canada has warned that these deficiencies pose a serious risk of unintentional exposure, which could lead to severe illness, injury, or even death. The product, a solid chemical cleaner in a plastic container with a perforated lid, is designed to be placed in a toilet tank for automatic dispensing. However, the lack of proper safety features means it could be easily accessed, particularly by children.
Over 72,000 units of the Ultra Big Blue Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner were sold across Canada between July 2020 and July 2026. As of July 28, 2026, no incidents or injuries had been reported in relation to the product. Consumers are instructed to cease use immediately and dispose of the cleaner according to local hazardous waste guidelines.
