Canada is set to play for gold at the LGT World Men's Curling Championship after a strong showing in the playoff rounds. Team Matt Dunstone, representing Canada, secured their spot in the final with a 9-7 victory over Scotland in the semi-final, following a 9-7 win against Italy in the qualification game. The Canadian team will now face Sweden for the championship title.

The semi-final match against Scotland was a tightly contested affair, with Canada pulling ahead in the ninth end and then stealing a point in the tenth to seal the victory. Earlier on Friday, Dunstone and his team battled through a tough qualification game against Italy, ultimately securing the win with a score of three in the final end. "That's not the start we had envisioned, obviously, but curling isn't perfect, life isn't perfect," said Dunstone after the win against Italy. "Sometimes you have to just deal with what's thrown at you, and we did that today."

Canada, Scotland, and Sweden all finished the round robin with a 10-2 record. However, Canada's third-place finish based on the Draw Shot Challenge meant they had to play in the qualification round. The team is aiming to win Canada's first World Men's Championship gold medal since 2017.

The gold-medal game against Sweden is scheduled for Saturday. Curling fans across Canada will be watching as Team Dunstone vies for the world title. Veteran curling commentator Vic Rauter is also set to retire after the gold-medal game.
