Air Fryer Recall: Fire and Burn Hazard Reported

Share:

Health Canada, in conjunction with the manufacturer, has announced a recall of the brand Insignia Air Fryer, citing potential fire and burn hazards. The recall affects models sold between November 2021 and May 2026 at major retailers across Canada, including Best Buy.

The affected air fryers can overheat, posing a significant risk of fire. Additionally, there have been reports of the air fryer handles melting or breaking, leading to potential burn injuries during use. Consumers who have purchased one of the recalled models are advised to immediately stop using the appliance.

Health Canada urges consumers to check the model number located on the bottom of their air fryer. A full list of affected model numbers is available on the Health Canada website and at Best Buy's website. Consumers should not return the recalled air fryers to stores. Instead, they are instructed to contact Insignia directly to arrange for a free replacement or receive a refund in the form of a store credit.

"The safety of Canadians is our top priority," stated a Health Canada spokesperson. "We encourage everyone to check their air fryers against the recalled models and take the necessary steps to protect themselves from potential harm." This recall serves as an important reminder to Canadians to stay informed about product safety alerts and to register their appliances to receive notifications about potential recalls.
